Enlistment
Vernon M. Clogston enlisted on December 4, 1942 in Camp Forest Tennessee. He was assigned to the 319th Bomber Squadron, 90th Bomber group during World War ll. Vernon Meritte Clogston went to FT. Oglethorpe in Georgia in December of 1924. Ft. Oglethorpe was a prison camp. Clogston trained at this camp. In that same year Clogston stayed at Keesler Field in Mississippi. Keesler Field was an Army Force Base. Clogston was stationed at the Hospital in Keesler Field, and his register number was 20010. He received medical treatment from Keesler Field. The base in Biloxi, Mississippi. Clogston stayed at Keesler Field till January 1943.
Clogston was at Buckley Field in Colorado January 1943 thru April. Buckley Field mission was to train fighters for fighter armament.During April 1943 thru June, Clogston was at Laredo Station in Texas. During June 1943 thru July, Clogston was sent to Salt Lake City, Utah. In Salt Lake City, Utah Clogston was stationed at the Hill Air Force Base there. On July 1943 Clogston was stationed at Davis-Monthan Field in Arizona. Davis-Monthan Field trained people to fly. During July thru September, Clogston went to Blythe Army Air Field in Califorina. Blythe was the only army air field that provided air support to troops in training maneuvers. The last place Clogston was station at was Lincoln Army Air field in Nebraska. Lincoln Army Air Field trained the men who were enlisted to learn how to fly the aircraft. [ "Hit Parader"
